Cosco revives Singapore-Calcutta SKX1 service

ServicesTop Right FacebookTwitterWhatsAppLinkedinEmail COSCO SHIPPING Lines (CoscoSL) has officially reinstated its dedicated shuttle SKX1 service connecting Singapore and Kolkata (Calcutta). The service, which was closed late last year, is being relaunched to strengthen regional network coverage, according to a report by shipping data provider Alphaliner. Key Service Details Capacity Expansion: The revived direct service will operate using a single 900 TEU vessel. Dual-Route Strategy: Alongside its own standalone shuttle, CoscoSL has secured slot-sharing arrangements on an existing service operated jointly by Bengal Tiger Lines (BTL) and X-Press Feeders between the same ports. Unified Branding: COSCO will market both its independent vessel operations and the slot-sharing arrangement under the unified SKX1 brand. Strategic Impact The move allows the carrier to offer higher frequency and greater capacity flexibility on a crucial trade lane connecting East Indian cargo markets to major transshipment hubs in Southeast Asia.
