NewsPort NewsSticky News FacebookTwitterWhatsAppLinkedinEmail Luka Koper Port Port of Koper reported positive cargo throughput growth during the first quarter of 2026 despite ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges. The port’s Container Terminal handled 326,256 TEUs between January and March, representing a 9% increase compared with the same period last year. March also marked a new monthly record for the terminal, with 114,397 TEUs handled in a single month. Port of Koper said growth was mainly driven by higher import volumes linked to industrial investments across its hinterland markets. The Car Terminal handled 184,564 vehicles during the quarter, down 11% year-on-year. The company said vehicle volumes were affected by geopolitical developments and changing market conditions in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East regions. However, imports of Chinese vehicles continued to grow steadily. Liquid bulk cargo increased 5% to 1.1 million tonnes during the quarter. General cargo volumes remained relatively stable at 286,058 tonnes, while dry bulk volumes declined 14% to 1.06 million tonnes, mainly due to lower coal shipments.
